Renton, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks have released quarterback Josh Portis from the practice squad and signed wide receiver Phil Bates in his place, the team announced this afternoon.
Portis signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by Seattle on July 26, 2011 and was inactive for 15 games and dressed, but did not play, at Cleveland (10/23/11). He spent this season on the team's practice squad after being released following training camp.
