| Mission To challenge high school student athletes to inspire teammates, classmates and community members to better the communities in which they live using leadership skills and abilities. |
About the Qwest Leadership Challenge™ Students in the 2009 and 2010 graduating classes who have participated on a varsity high school athletic team are eligible to participate in the Qwest Leadership Challenge™. Selected schools in four (4) regions of Washington State (Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Vancouver) have been asked to nominate 10-12 student athletes based on their overall leadership ability and commitment to be involved in the community. Students will compete for one of two (2) $5,000 and ten (10) $1,000 college scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded based on the students’ exemplary services, leadership and commitment to their communities as demonstrated through their Qwest Leadership Challenge™ project. Each Qwest Leadership Challenge™ participant is asked to complete a community based leadership service project that includes 40 volunteer hours of combined service to a non-profit or school related cause. |
