Seahawks Alumni Brock Huard, Sea Gals Pia & Kristal-Lynn and SUBWAY teamed up for the second annual "12 Hours of Giving" campaign during Seahawks Kickoff Week. The group visited
twelve local charities, youth programs and shelters in a twelve hour period. They fed over one thousand people as they distributed 500 sandwiches and 600 SUBWAY Cash Cards providing encouragement and a healthy meal to both youth and adults in the Puget Sound area.

The twelve charitable organizations receiving sandwiches or cash cards as part of the SUBWAY 12 Hours of Giving were Ryther Children Center, Goodwill, Childhaven, Matt Talbot Center, Griffin House, Seattle Indian Health Board, Treehouse, Ronald McDonald House, Boys & Girls Club Skyway/Renton, First Place School, Boys & Girls Club Southwest and Boys & Girls Club Rainier Vista.

Boys & Girls Club Skyway/Renton Executive Director, Meg Pitman expressed her sincere appreciation for the SUBWAY "12 Hours of Giving" program, "We cannot thank the Seahawks Organization enough for the sandwiches. Not only did the donations arm the Club with a treat that confirmed the fact that great tasting food can be healthy and exciting but also sent the message that the community (and the cool Seahawks) care about the kids in this Club. I heard multiple kids gasp in excitement "The SEAHAWKS brought these for US"

Brock Huard visited the Boys & Girls Club Southwest located in White Center. He toured the recently renovated facility, spoke to a number of teens about sports broadcasting and interacted with the entire membership group of children ages 5-18. Brock utilized an acronym to highlight six ideas he believes helped him become a successful athlete, adult, parent and member of our community.

Seize the Day
Understand Who YOU Are
Be Active
Watch What You Eat
Attitude
Your Choice

The children at Boys & Girls Club Southwest took these words to heart and actively participated in Brock's presentation providing examples of how they can use these six ideas to help them achieve success! It was a great way to kick off the after school program at Boys & Girls Club Southwest.

Smiles and appreciative handshakes met the Seahawks representatives at each stop along the way, as groups devoured the sandwiches and took photographs with the Sea Gals. The Matt Talbot Center had 12th Man flags hanging on the walls and many people wore Seahawks t-shirts showing support of their local team! The SUBWAY gift cards were also a big hit. Jessica Ross, Associate Director of Development for Treehouse, expressed her gratitude for the cards stating "our tutoring program is very excited to have these amazing incentives and healthy options for kids."

After an early start, the day came to a close near dusk at Boys & Girls Club Rainier Vista, with close to one hundred children enjoying SUBWAY sandwiches for dinner. These young children, like others at each stop of the SUBWAY "12 Hours of Giving" program left for the day happy, well-fed, and excited for the launch of a successful 2009 Seahawks season.
