Heidi at the Pro Bowl - Looking back on Pro Bowl 2013

Posted Jan 28, 2013

Sea Gal Heidi takes a look back at her experience at the 2013 Pro Bowl.

Reflecting on the Pro Bowl

If I had to sum up the Pro Bowl in one word it would simply be amazing. I seriously had the time of my life! I met incredible women who all share the same passion as I do, along with amazing directors and choreographers that impacted my life in more ways than one.

There isn’t just one amazing thing about the week it is the collaboration of everything I got to experience. The highlight of many was Game Day. Dancing LIVE with Train was magical. There were many Seahawks fans and it was so fun to be able to go up to them in the stands sign autographs and take as many photos as they liked.

We played in another Mascot vs Pro Bowl Cheerleader game and I scored a Beast Mode touchdown again!

Performing all around the stadium was exhilarating. There were stages in the stands that we performed with live DJs and got an up close and person interaction with the fans!

On the field it was a different type of game played, It was a celebration of this incredible NFL season. It was nothing like the games I am used to cheering at but there was some competitiveness.

Our Pro Bowl directors keep telling us that we were the Rock Stars of this “show” and to enjoy and embrace every moment of it and I sure did. I am forever grateful for this amazing opportunity.

I want to thank my amazing Directors Sherri, Shannon and Lauren. I am the women I am today because of all of you and your example. I have the most supportive teammates and I am so honored to apart of the 2012 Sea Gals.

I am proud to have represented the Seahawks organization and after chatting with other teams it is so nice to see how well respected we truly are. The motto we had for our Pro Bowl Cheerleaders was “Chasing Joy” and I will continue to do that for the rest of my life.

Day 7 - Game Day!

It's finally Game Day! We woke early and headed to team breakfast! We were all about to embark on an amazing day to remember!

We headed to Aloha stadium all dressed in our Pro Bowl warm ups. It's so crazy how in one week we have all become so close and really feel like a team and we are! We dropped our things in our locker room and headed out to practice. It was surreal! We ran all our formations and set quarter changes and 2 minute warnings. I seriously could not believe I was there at that moment. We finished up rehearsal took a few photo ops and headed back to the locker room to get ready for the tailgate party!

We all got dressed in our uniforms ans walked over to the official Pro Bowl tailgate. There we were able to perform with our other NFC line. Together we danced two sideline routines and introduced ourselves, and of course there were tons of Seahawks fans!

After the tailgate it was gametime! Performing infront of all the fans was amazing and to see our Seahawks doing so well on the field just capped off a great week in Hawaii.

After the game we all were over joyed with emotions. Couldn't believe this week had come to an end. We got back to our hotel and went to dinner at Wolfgang Puck and got our Pro Bowl Rings!

It was a magical week that I'll never forget!

Day 6 - 'Ohana Day

What a day! We started with team breakfast then off to 'Ohana Day! What a experience walking into the Aloha Stadium with all of our fans! NFC was up first and we performed four times which was amazing. There were a lot of seahawks fans there which made performing even more exciting!

Then it was onto a mascot vs cheerleader flag football game and guess what? I scored our touchdown, beast mode style! The game was a complete blast.

After we finished 'Ohana day we changed into our practice attire and got to run through our whole pre-game with Train! It was a surreal experience. We ran through our intros and performance about 4-5 times and it felt amazing dancing with these ladies. It felt as if we had danced together for more that 6 days.

We wrapped up practice, headed back to hotel to freshen up before the NFL block party! My line was able to perform on two different stages and perform for over 70,000 people in the streets! We signed a lot of autographs and took photos until the end of the night.

I cannot wait for game day tomorrow!

Day 5 - Hawaii Five-0

Today was such a fun day! Myself, the Vikings, Redskins and Cardinals cheerleaders headed to the JW Marriott Ihilani for the players practice and the filming of Hawaii Five-O. We arrived and were able to mingle and meet kids from Make-a-Wish! Getting to meet these kids is why I love being a Sea Gal.

Then it was time for filming. The camera crew came in and flooded the field with cameras, actors and extras. We were able to be ourselves and meet and greet fans and interact with the actors. It was a lot of fun and exciting to see how they really make the magic happen on tv!

After our filming we zoomed over to a YET luncheon. While there we were able to meet and greet the guests. I really enjoyed talking to all of them about this amazing event and organization.

The rest of the day was filled with relaxation and fun in the sun with the rest the PBCs! Also met some avid hawks fans on the beach! Then we finished the day going to an event, Downtown Touchdown - Eat the Streets!

Tomorrow will be filled with O'Hana Day, rehearsals and the famous block party! Can't believe game day is almost here. This week has truly been one of the best experiences of my life and I'm so honored and humbled to be apart of Pro Bowl 2013!

Day 4 - A Look at Aloha Stadium

Wow, I cannot believe it's day 4 already! Today we had another team breakfast and 3 more Pro Bowl Cheerleaders were introduced. With a great message for the day!

Off to our first field rehearsal and what came with it, rain! But you know what, it was perfect, it was like I was at home. Walking into Aloha Stadium was a surreal experience. It was so exciting looking around and seeing all the stages and props being put up. We ran our pre-game intro routine and our Train dance for about 4 hours. This was our last time at the field till Saturday for O'Hana Day!

We headed back to the hotel for a little bit of relaxation and I was able to meet up with one of my best friends and last year's Pro Bowl Cheerleader Lindsay. It was so nice to see a familiar face and introduce her to my new Pro Bowl sisters!

My NFC line they got dressed in uniform and headed to the VIP Black Book event that the NFL hosted. We took photos and greeted the over 250 Hawaiian CEOs who were there for an open discussion on the long term plans of Pro Bowl.

After the Black Book event, we then headed to Dave and Busters for our team dinner and found out myself and 3 others from my NFC line will be headed in the morning to a filming of Hawaii 5-O!

Should be quite an experience! I can't wait to share with you all about the rest of my journey!

Day 3 - Hospital Visits & Hawaiian Welcome

Today was another amazing day! We started off with another team breakfast and individual introductions of 4 Pro Bowl cheerleaders, then we went straight into rehearsal. We danced for four hours perfecting our pre-game and side-lines routines.

After practice it was a quick lunch and fitting for our Pro Bowl rings then my line NFC 2 headed to the local women's and children's hospital. We visited with kids, took photos and signed autographs. There is nothing more rewarding then being out in the community especially visiting children.

Then it was back to the hotel to change and freshen up for our NFL welcome Luau! It was amazing. Great traditional Hawaiian food and Polynesian entertainment, then special guest Train performed live. Seeing them perform live was exciting since the pre-game routine we have been learning is to his song, which we will perform with him on Sunday.

Today was such a rewarding day. It is crazy how fast time is flying and I already feel like I have made 25 new sisters for life. I Cannot wait for the rest of the week!

Day 2 - Photo Shoot & Practice

Today started with breakfast with the team and orientation. We met our amazing coordinators and directors Maria, Ron and John.

After breakfast it was off to shoot our photo card at the pool, in perfect weather, not too hot and a slight breeze!

Then we were off for a quick lunch break and went into our 8 hour practice.

At practice we formed our lines. My line is NFC 2, all the taller ladies of the NFC! Cardinals, Rams, Vikings, Buccaneers, Redskins and of course yours truely!

We learned our entire pre-game routine and set all of our dances. The practice was long but so much fun! It was amazing to see us come together as a team in a few short hours. Can't wait for tomorrow, we get to see the photo card!

Day 1 - Aloha from Hawaii

Arrived here in beautiful Hawaii and was greeted by our Pro Bowl security Craig and Steve. They presented me with a lei and we met up with Trish from Patriots! We headed to our hotel and got checked in and I found out my roommate is Lisa from Bills.

We have had the rest of the day off so we spent some time on the beach and had a group dinner. It has been so much fun meeting all the girls!

Tomorrow will be a long day so we called it a night early, ran through our dances a few times and now it's lights out. Cannot wait for the rest this week!

Getting Ready for Hawaii

Getting ready for the 2013 Pro Bowl has been such a surreal experience. I still can not believe I am going and representing our Seahawks organization and my fellow Sea Gals in Hawaii. I am so honored, humbled and grateful for this opportunity.

It's been a busy time since I was announced Pro Bowl Cheerleader at the December 9th Seahawks home game. I seriously had no idea that I would be chosen as Sherri put a lei around my neck but when it happend I was filled with emotions, excited, shocked and nervous. Having that lei around my neck was an incredible feeling, one that I will cherish forever.

I have such amazing, supportive teammates as well that I wouldn't be the person I am today without their support.

Since being announced to the Pro Bowl I have learned a total of 11 routines from a DVD which has been challenging and fun at the same time. I have watched them over and over again and rehearsed in my house, my car and at the gym, I am sure I have gotten some funny looks while driving but I know its worth it.

I have been physically and mentally preparing for this week and thankfully I have been able to talk with previous Pro Bowl Cheerleaders to help me through all of this. Trina Pro Bowl Cheerleader 2006, Gena Pro Bowl Cheerleader 2010, Nicole Pro Bowl Cheerleader 2011 and Lindsay Pro Bowl Cheerleader 2012.

Each one has had great advice and I have loved hearing their stories. The one thing that has stuck out from all of the stories is just to enjoy and embrace every moment and to just be me, Heidi, and know this is a once in a life time experience I will never forget.

I will leave on my Pro Bowl Adventure on Monday and will be keeping all of you updated on my experience with photos and posts! Aloha and thank you to the Seahawks, my director Sherri and all my teammates for believing in me with this honor.

Heidi will be such a wonderful representative of the Sea Gals and our entire organization. She is a very talented dancer and an exceptional entertainer. Heidi is beautiful, talented, warm, and fun! I hope many fans get the chance to meet her in Hawaii. -Sherri Thompson, Sea Gals Director
