Occupation: Event Coordinator at the Lacey Chamber of Commerce
High School: Timberline High School (Olympia, WA)
College: University of Washington
Major or Degree: Political Science
Years as a Sea Gal: 3 Years
Dance Background: Over twenty years of jazz, tap, ballet and hip-hop combined with 6 years of high school and professional cheerleading.
Hobbies: I love to learn and when I find an interest, I have to learn everything about it, sometimes to an obsessive extent! This leads to me reading a lot and watching a ton of the History and Discovery Channels. History is so interesting to me so I love to read about it and travel to historical places. In addition to reading, learning and travel, I have recently mastered the art of making banana bread and greatly enjoy cooking for and with my family. They are very important to me and I love spending time with them, and playing fantasy football and board games with them.
Major Goal I Have Met: I graduated from the University of Washington with my Bachelor’s degree in 2011 and was very proud to be handed my degree because I went back to school full-time at a major university after taking almost three years off. On top of that, I commuted five days a week for an hour to get to class, worked two jobs in order to make my mortgage payments, sustained a marriage and made the Dean’s List multiple times. I was very busy but very happy to be reaching a major goal in life.
Best Experience: In February I traveled with the Sea Gal Show Group to Kosovo, Bahrain and Djibouti on an Armed Forces Entertainment tour. I had no idea what to expect, how to pack and prepare myself for not only three countries, but three continents in two weeks. We met thousands of brave soldiers who hadn’t seen their families for months and were living in small accommodations with little luxuries. Each person we met in our travels was positive and had a smile on their face. That trip put so much into perspective and gave me a new level of respect for those who serve and protect our country. It was an experience that will impact me for the rest of my life.
How I Stay Fit: I have learned through many variations of diet and excersize that if you aren’t dilegint in both areas, you don’t get results. Therefore, I make it a priority to do something active every day, even if its five minutes of core work, and I stick to a no dairy, lower carb, high protein diet. The proper fuel, food and sleep, combined with getting your blood pumping is essential in fitness.
Best Advice: My Grandma was born into the great depression so while helping to raise me she reminded me every day how lucky I was to have the things that I have and the family that I do. Now, with that ingrained in me, I have learned never to take anything for granted. On a beautiful day in the Northwest I can’t help but look around at the place that I live and the people I am living with and say to myself, “I am so lucky.”
Best Part of Being a Sea Gal: Just being a Sea Gal is the best! I have made amazing friends, met the best fans in the NFL, felt the seismic activity of the 12th Man on gameday, and traveled abroad, all while doing something that I love most… Dance!
