2007: Started all 11 games played missing games 6-9 with a foot injury and the season finale at Atlantat (12/30) with a calf injury. Despite missing five games, finished third on the team with 49 receptions, 661 yards and four TDs. Was inactive (calf) for the Wild Card game, but returned to action in the Divisional Playoffs at Green Bay (1/12) but left the game in the first quarter with an injured ACL.
Pro: Traded by New England to Seattle on September 11, 2006 for an undisclosed 2007 draft pick. Originally drafted by New England in the second-round (65th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. Has totaled 21 receptions in two Super Bowls (XXXVIII, XXXIX). Named Super Bowl MVP after tying a Super Bowl record with 11 receptions in the Patriots’ 24-21 victory over the Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. Registered a game-high 133 receiving yards.
2002: Finished his first NFL season ranked second among all AFC rookies with 43 receptions and tied for third with 489 receiving yards despite missing the final three games due to a leg injury. Set Patriots single-game rookie record by hauling in 13 passes at San Diego (9/29) and tied the second highest total by a rookie in NFL single-game history. Led all rookies and ranked sixth in the AFC with an average kickoff return yardage of 24.0. Returned five kickoffs for 31 yards or more, including a long of 63 yards at Detroit (11/28). Snared six passes for 83 yards and a touchdown to lead the team in receiving in his NFL debut as the Patriots defeated the Pittsburgh (9/9), 30-14. Hauled in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady in the third quarter for the first touchdown of his professional career versus the Steelers. 2003: Started 12 of 15 games at wide receiver. Led the team with 57 receptions and 803 receiving yards. Gained first-down yardage on 40 of his 57 catches. Recorded 24 third-down catches that gained first downs. Caught two passes for 23 yards in the Patriots’ 24-14 AFC Championship victory at Indianapolis (1/18/04). Tallied a game-high 10 receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots’ 32-29 Super Bowl XXXVIII victory over the Carolina Panthers (2/1/04). Hauled in the Patriots’ first touchdown with a 5-yard reception with 3:05 remaining in the second quarter. Helped set up the Patriots’ second touchdown by getting behind the defense and hauling in a 52-yard reception. Set up Adam Vinatieri’s game-winning field goal with a 17-yard reception on third-and-3 with just nine seconds remaining in the contest.
2004: Started nine regular-season games and all three playoff contests. Tallied a career-high four touchdown receptions. Finished third on the team with 35 receptions and 454 receiving yards. Led all NFL receivers in the playoffs with 16 receptions for 264 yards. Returned to action versus Kansas City (11/22) after being inactive for seven games and led the team with six receptions and 106 receiving yards and a touchdown. Named NFL Offensive Player of Championship Sunday after recording a team-high 116 receiving yards on four receptions and a touchdown in the Patriots’ 41-27 AFC Championship victory over Pittsburgh (1/23/05). Sealed the trip to the Super Bowl with a 23-yard touchdown run off of a reverse in the fourth quarter. Named Super Bowl XXXIX MVP after tying a Super Bowl record with 11 receptions in the Patriots’ 24-21 victory over Philadelphia (2/6/05). Registered a game-high 133 receiving yards.
2005: Led the team with career highs in receptions (78), receiving yards (998) and touchdown receptions (5). Recorded five or more receptions in 11 of 16 regular season games. In the regular season, led the team in receptions or tied for the team lead nine times. Paced the squad in receiving yards in five games. Led the team with eight receptions and set a Patriots playoff record with 153 receiving yards at Denver (1/14/06). and also recorded the longest reception in Patriots’ playoff history when he hauled in a 73-yard pass in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.
2006: Started 13 of 14 games after joining the Seahawks via trade with New England following the season opener. Was exempt from the roster week two versus Arizona (9/17) and saw first action in a Seahawks uniform versus the N.Y. Giants (9/24). Started every game after that. Finished the season second on the team with 53 receptions and 725 yards. Was tied for second with four touchdown receptions. Had six catches for 76 yards and first-career two-touchdown game at St. Louis (10/15). Had season highs with seven catches and 113 yards at San Francisco (11/19). Started both postseason games and led team with a total of eight receptions for 96 yards.
College: Branch hauled in 143 passes for 2,204 yards (15.4 average) and 18 touchdowns while at Louisville (2000-01). His 143 catches rank sixth on the school’s career-record list while his 2,204 yards are topped only by Miguel Montano (2,305, 1994-97), Ibn Green (2,830, 1996-99) and Arnold Jackson (3,670, 1997-2000) in Louisville annals. Only Anthony Cummings (25, 1987-90), Green (33) and Jackson (31) had more touchdown catches in a career for the Cardinals. Became only the second player in school history to record multiple 1,000-yard receiving seasons, joining Jackson (1,209 in 1999 and 1,165 in 1998). Earned team MVP honors following the 2000 season. Earned second-team All-America honors at Jones County (Ellisville, Miss.) College following the 1998 season. Caught 69 passes for 1,012 yards (14.7 avg.) and nine scores and helped JCC to a 12-0 mark and a victory in the Golden Isles Bowl. Grabbed 37 passes for 639 yards (17.7 avg.) and five touchdowns as a freshman.
Personal: Born Anthony Branch on July 18, 1979. Lettered in football and track at Monroe (Albany, Ga.) High. Participated in indoor track at Louisville in 2001. Competed in the 60 meter dash (7.1). Also performed on the outdoor squad in the 60 meters, 100 meters and 4x100 relays. Besides football, also enjoys soccer. Majored in communications.
