Seattle Seahawks Youth Football Mission Statement

All Youth and High School football programs conducted by the Seattle Seahawks are under the guidance of the Fan Development Department. The mission of the Seattle Seahawks Youth and High School Football programs is to give back to the community through various programming and events that introduce and teach the fundamentals of football to students in a safe and professional environment. The Seattle Seahawks Youth and High School football programs promote positive youth development and address the importance of proper coaching, academics, health and safety and life skills development.

Football offers youngsters skills to play the game but more importantly, skills and opportunities to succeed in life. The Seattle Seahawks and its players, coaches and staff care about young people both on and off the field, which is why Youth and High School football is a top priority of the Seattle Seahawks and the National Football League.

NFL 7-on-7 National Tournament
The Seattle Seahawks have been selected to participate in the 2008 National Football League's 7-on-7 National Tournament. The tournament will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana hosted by the New Orleans Saints on July 10-13, 2008. Sixteen teams (8 NFC and 8 AFC) will compete in the 2008 NFL's 7-on-7 National Championships. The non-contact tournament is comprised of high school aged student athletes. www.nflyouthpd.com

Heads-Up Concussion in High School & Youth Sports
To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the “Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports” initiative to offer information about concussions—a type of traumatic brain injury—to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. High School Coach of the Week
Each week during the high school football season, the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches Association select two high school football coaches as the Coach of the Week winners. Each recipient receives several items and privileges, including a $500 donation to the school’s football program from the Seattle Seahawks and the NFL Youth Football Fund.CLICK HERE to see a list of our 2007 Coach of the Week award winners.

Seattle Seahawks High School Mentorship Academy
The Seattle Seahawks High School Coaches Mentorship Academy is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that connects younger head and assistant head coaches from around the state with veteran high school coaches. Seattle Seahawks High School Coaches Council
The Seattle Seahawks and Washington State high school coaches have combined to create a Seahawks Coaches Council with the aim of strengthening youth and high school football programs throughout the state. NFL Punt, Pass and Kick
The NFL and the Seattle Seahawks offer a FREE national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8-15 who wish to compete as individuals among their peers. Girls and boys in four separate age divisions (8-9,10-11,12-13 and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing, and kicking in a fun and engaging forum. With more than four million boys and girls taking part in the NFL's Punt, Pass and Kick competitions around the country, taking part in the program is one of the world's largest youth sports participation programs. NFL National Youth Football Fund
The NFL National Youth Football Partners receive grants from the NFL Youth Football Fund to help support youth football development and permit thousands of young people to participate in a variety of flag and tackle football programs. In addition, affiliates and branches of these national organizations may apply for grants to develop and support innovative youth football programs on the local level. We have found that this is the most organized and effective way to support football at the grassroots level.

Seahawks NFL Flag Football
The premier youth football league for boys and girls ages 5-17, provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork.Launched in 1996, the FLAG Football program is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Seattle Seahawks Youth Football and Cheerleading Jamboree
Each season the Seattle Seahawks and the South Puget Sound Boys and Girls Club host the Seattle Seahawks Youth Football and Cheerleading Jamboree. The one-day event features 56 youth football teams that play 20 minute scrimmages at Qwest Field. The Cheerleaders are invited to perform throughout the day. In addition to the competition and cheerleading performances, the Seahawks host a “Character Development Session” that features Seahawks players as guest speaker to discuss the value of sportsmanship and citizenship.

Emerald City Kickoff Classic
Each fall Qwest Field helps kickoff the high school football season by serving at the host of the Emerald City Kickoff Classic. The Emerald City Kickoff Classic, which is produced by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, is the premier high school football showcase event on the west coast. Seattle Seahawks/ NATS Testing Day
The Seattle Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches Association host an annual athletic testing day at the Seahawks headquarters. In partnership with NATS, the testing is used to assist high school students in the college recruiting process.
