Hi Everyone –

Blitz here and I just flew back from the Pro Bowl 2008! I heard that Matt, Julian, Lofa and Marcus were all flying home after the game…well little did I know that they were going to fly in an airplane! How lazy! Now I’m back in Seattle and resting my muscles in the off season. But for now, I wanted to tell you about my week in Hawaii with our Pro Bowl players!
As I arrived in Hawaii I was quickly greeted by some of the Hawaiian natives that gave me a lei do make me “blend in” and not look like a complete tourist! But I quickly realized it was time to meet some fans. Marcus, Lofa and I headed to the Special Olympics where we participated in a punt, pass and kick competition.
After some friendly competition it was off to a famous Luau with fire dancers and more! We ate some Hawaiian pork and it was absolutely delicious. I was a little scared when we first got to the Luau because the last time I was at one they actually tried to cook me and put me on the buffet table. Good thing I work out all the time! Once the chefs saw my muscles there was no mistake in this mind, this bird wasn’t here to be eaten, he was here to eat!
After a long sleep that night it was time to kick into high gear and show Hawaii just why the Seahawks are the greatest team in the world. I flaunted my feathers at all sorts of events. I went to a kickoff rally, a dance competition, a block party, and even the beach to show off my stuff. While making it to all these events I was joined by 11 other NFL mascots! It always gets a little crazy when we get together because everyone thinks there team is the best. Well, let’s be honest, you and I both know who the best team is and I was on a mission to prove it!
We got to the stadium for Ohana day where we met hundreds of kids. I brought a few out with me onto the field and we had a big dance off to the Cha Cha slide. Then there was a lot of horseplay on the field as the mascots started their own little football game. Next thing you know, my favorite quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck, came out onto the field and we played catch for a bit. I’ll tell you what, that guy knows how to throw a football!
After our little warm up game, Matt showed the crowd some real skills as he practiced throwing passes to all the different Pro Bowl receivers. After they got some practice in, we all went home for a little relaxation time. I tried building a nest in one of the palm trees but one of my fans was nice enough to get me a beautiful hotel room on the beach! I even tried surfing for the first time. I of course got up my very first time and everyone around me was watching in awe as I rode the waves into shore every time. One wave I even reached down into the ocean and plucked out a delicious fish with my beak. What a great afternoon snack!
Overall, I really had a great time hanging out with all the players and a bunch of the other mascots from the NFL. At the end of the game we joined forces and took a group picture…I think I look the best though! Well hope you enjoyed the pictures and the stories. What have you been up to? Have you gotten outside to enjoy the weather? If you havent, now's a good time to start!
Did you hear our schedule came out? Who's your favorite opponent? We've made lots of changes this off-season... we added defensive end Patrick Kerney from the Atlanta Falcons, strong safety Deon Grant from the Jacksonville Jaguars and tight end Marcus Pollard from the Indianapolis Colts. We also drafted eight rookies in the 2007 NFL Draft.
