Look who’s coming to the game against the Bucs

Posted Nov 3, 2013

A closer look at some of the fans who are attending the Seahawks’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at CenturyLink Field on Sunday.

With the Seahawks honoring the 1983 team that was the franchise’s first playoff team during a halftime ceremony on Sunday, we focused on fans saluting that past in what they were wearing:

Tamara Strachan

Age: 40

From: Vancouver, B.C. In fact, she runs the Canadian Sea Hawkers

Accompanied by: Her husband, Ryan, who wearing a jersey with “CanuckHawk” on the back; and their friends, Lora and Jimmy Foreman

Fan since: “As long as I can remember. In Vancouver, the only football game we got to watch when I was growing up was the Seahawk games, because we got KIRO and KOMO. So that was all we ever saw.”

Favorite current Seahawk: Red Bryant. “I’m a big Red fan, I really am. He’s just a really genuine guy and he really cares about the team and the game, and about playing well and fair.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Mack Strong. “I’ve always liked Mack. I’m trying to think of when it started. My prize possession is my Mack Strong-autographed football.”

Favorite moment this season: “Beating the 49ers in the home opener. And I thought it was really cool that they invited Shaun Alexander back (to raise the 12th Man Flag). It was so cool to see him come back.”

Favorite moment in franchise history: “The NFC Championship game (in 2005). That’s one I don’t think I’ll ever forget. I actually collected all the confetti off the ground and I made a shadowbox.”

Dennis Regan

Age: 50

From: San Diego

Accompanied by: His wife, Kelly.

Fan since: “Since the ’80’s. Like ’82. I went to UH (University of Hawaii) and the team you could see when I lived in Hawaii for 11 years was the Seahawks.”

Favorite current Seahawk: Russell Wilson. “He’s tough, and he’s a small guy – like the rest of us.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Jim Zorn. “Gotta be Zorn,” said Regan, who was wearing a Zorn No. 10 jersey. “Great quarterback. He made football fun back then.”

Favorite moment this season: “I’ve been out of the country, so this is the first game I will have seen. This is my first time at the stadium, so I’m all excited.”

Favorite moment in franchise history: “It’s a negative moment. It’s when the refs screwed us against Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl.”

Keri Truscan-Goble

Age: 53

From: Renton, but now lives in Arizona

Accompanied by: Keri, also a former Miss Renton, was a Sea Gal in the late 70’s and early 80’s, so she was with the other members of the 1983 squad who are going to be honored at halftime along with the first playoff team in franchise history.

Fan since: “Since I was 17, a senior in (Renton) high school. That’s when I started with the Sea Gals, in 1978.”

Favorite current Seahawk: Russell Wilson. “The quarterbacks are always special.”

Favorite all-time Seahawks: Jim Zorn and Steve Largent. “They were just awesome guys. So down to earth. Real. So polite. Just great guys.”

Favorite moment this season: “This (honoring the ’83 team and Sea Gals). It’s such an honor to be invited to this.”

Favorite moment in franchise history: “I’d had to say when we went to the Super Bowl. But we should have won that game. We should have won. We got robbed.”
