NEW YORK – They are here in all sizes and ages, resplendent in their best 12th Man attire.

The Seahawks’ fan base that has traveled so well all season is not about to miss the biggest game of the season – Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium. That was apparent on Broadway in Manhattan on Friday, and we checked in with four of them.

Tim Kenny

Age: 32

From: Edmonds, but now living in Washington, D.C.

Accompanied by: his wife, Clara

Fan since: “Since 1981, March 1.” You know the exact date? “That’s his birthday,” Clara said.

Favorite current Seahawk: Golden Tate. “Because he went to Notre Dame. My bother played at Notre Dame, so I’m just a Norte Dame fan.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Curt Warner. “Because when I was like 8-years old, he was the star.”

Favorite moment this season: “You’d have to go with the tip play – tip and interception.” That was the pass Richard Sherman tipped in the end zone and Malcolm Smith intercepted to seal the victory over the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in the conference title game two weeks ago.

Favorite moment in franchise history: “It would have to be beating Carolina to go to the first Super Bowl, because that kind of put us on the national stage.” That was in the 2005 NFC Championship game, when the Seahawks beat the Panthers to advance to Super Bowl XL.

J. Szczesny

Age: 42

From: Seattle

Accompanied by: Ryan Karns

Fan since: 15 years

Favorite current Seahawk: Marshawn Lynch. “Because he’s the Beast Mode, keeps quiet and just kicks everybody’s butt.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: He started with Matt Hasselbeck, but in mid-thought switched to another former quarterback. “Actually, check that. Warren Moon. That’s one of the reasons I enjoyed moving to Seattle from Houston, because Warren Moon played for the Oilers when I was a big Oilers fan.”

Favorite moment this season: “Oh man, when Richard Sherman took away the pass from San Francisco.” The pass to Michael Crabtree in the end zone to ice the NFC Championship game? “I try not to say any of their names. It’s that whatever guy.”

Favorite moment in franchise history: “This is not a good moment for Seattle, but it’s when (Brian) Bosworth got mowed over by Bo Jackson. That is my favorite moment in Seahawks history.” And it came in a “Monday Night Football” game at the Kingdome against the Raiders in 1987.
